Excellent communication skills, especially persuasive verbal skills, are critical to relationships with clients, staff, partners, associates, and other attorneys. In a court of law, powerful communication skills can help attorneys make a favorable impression upon the judge and jury. During mediation, coming across as trustworthy and reasonable can help settle a case in less time and with a better outcome.
The way an attorney speaks, the use of respectful language, level of confidence, ability to manage emotions, and body language all impact the way messages are received and decided upon. Improving in these areas will help attorneys attract new clients and exert greater influence over others.
